One of the core reasons Renovating For Profit exists is to give back to the community. In our view, there’s no point being the richest person in the plot as wealth is not measured by just monetary value alone. After years of donating to corporate charities, Cherie made the personal decision to cease donations to the major charity organisations, largely in part to frustration of seeing donations spent on corporate overheads rather than reaching people truly in need. While it’s not always the case and there are certainly a lot of good charities out there, it’s fair to say that very little money ends up where it should end up.
Renovating For Profit was established in mid 2009. At this time and throughout that year, we donated small amounts of funds here and there but nothing of significant importance. In 2010, the first real year of our business, we turned the table. The Renovating For Profit team is proud to say we donated 38% of our net company profits back to charitable causes. Yes, you read right... a massive 38% of first year profits which is unheard of for new business entities. In 2010, we made a number of significant donations that helped enrich the lives of a couple of key people truly in need. To a lesser extent, over 2,500 people benefited from our direct donations. In 2010, our company took a firm stance on how we dispersed our company profits. We helped individuals and families on a direct basis only who were dealing with an unfortunate incident, circumstance or medical condition. We paid for wheelchairs, special medical equipment, medical operations, modified disabled vehicles, bought play equipment for low funded childcare centre’s and deposited money into bank accounts to people who were powerless to change certain situations. This allowed RFP to directly control and be certain that the money we donated was put to good use and not squandered foolishly. To this end, we thank each and every one of RFP's graduates who are part of the Renovating For Profit community. This is your donation as much as it was ours for without you, these donations would not have been possible.
Renovating For Profit doesn't seek acknowledgment, corporate recognition or view these donations as a corporate publicity opportunity. We’d rather go about donating quietly where we can and feel good about ourselves that a higher purpose drives our corporate existence.
If you know someone who has been dealt a hard blow through an unfortunate accident or illness, we'd like to hear about it. We can't help everyone but we will assess all emails on a case by case basis and help where we can. Emails can be directed to admin@renovatingforprofit.com.au
